Milton Cyr Obituary

Milton Gerald Cyr, 89, of Hebron, and formerly of Madawaska Maine, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, March 12, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Born February 10, 1934 in Millinocket, Maine; he was a son of the late Vital and Minnie Cyr. In 1954, Milton served our nation by enlisting in the United States Army. After honorably serving, he married his wife, the late Odette Bouchard in 1958; they shared 48 years of marriage together, until she predeceased him in 2007. During their marriage, the couple settled down in Madawaska, Maine where they raised their family. Milton was the proud owner and operator of Milton’s Barber Shop where he worked until his retirement in 2006. During his years in Maine, he was an active member in the Optimist Club, also served on the task force board in Madawaska for the Town, and became active in the American Legion and VFW. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. In 2015, he moved to Hebron to be closer to his children and grandchildren. After moving to Hebron, he remained active with the American Legion and VFW and was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Family in Hebron. He is survived by his sons Mark Cyr of Berlin, Wayne (Jean) Cyr of Ashford and Dale (Penny) Cyr of Hebron; sister Carlene (Joseph) Dumond of Newington, sister-in-law Carlene Cyr of Old Orchard Beach, ME, former daughter-in-law Maryanne Cyr of Berlin, grandchildren Joshua (Joelle) Cyr, Justin (Hannah) Cyr, JaNae (Jeremy) Kent, Jessica Cyr, Christine Cyr, David Cyr, Paige Cyr, Morgan Cyr, and Taylor Cyr; great granddaughters AvaJean Kent and Nora Cyr; and numerous other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by his brother Paul Cyr and sister Theresa Larson. The family would like to give thanks to Grace Crowley for being a loving companion to Milton for the last 3 years. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 4-7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, CT 06415. A memorial mass will be held the following morning, Friday March 24, 2023 at 10 AM directly at the Church of the Holy Family, 185 Church St, Amston CT 06231.
