Paige (Burr) Dest

Paige Dest of Colchester, passed away at Hartford Hospital on November 3, 2022, due to a sudden illness.  Paige was 57 years old.  
Born on July 23, 1965 in Newport News, VA, she was a daughter of the late Lynton Burr and Christine (Olsson) Burr.  Paige married Dean Dest on September 6th of 1997.  The couple made their home in Colchester for 25 years. In recent years, they were also foster parents for children in care. 
Paige attended college in Virginia and North Carolina where she majored in Christian Counseling, a vocation that influenced the arc of her entire career path.  In the first part of her career, Paige worked in banking for nearly 30 years, starting as a teller and eventually attaining the level of vice president. She managed the Loan Servicing department and then became the Bank Compliance Officer.  Paige then began a labor of love as an entrepreneur starting both a for-profit and a non-profit business, focused on coaching, supporting and celebrating the skills of emotional intelligence (EQ) and social emotional learning (SEL).  Paige was also a former member of the Colchester Rotary and was a volunteer counselor for SCORE.  
Paige will be lovingly remembered for her lighthearted manor, warm sense of humor and for her dedication to family, friends and colleagues. She will be mourned by many, but her loss will be felt most keenly by her beloved husband of 25 years, Dean; her sister and brother-in-law, Victoria and Paul Evans of Virginia; her cousin Caroline Lucas of California; and many extended family members and friends.  
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11th beginning with calling hours from 9 to 10 am and a funeral home chapel service at 10 am at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester.  The burial service will follow in the Westchester Center Cemetery, Cemetery Rd., Colchester.
