Patricia Griffin “Patie”, 76, of Vero Beach Florida, and formerly of Hebron, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021. Born May 8, 1945; she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Jenny (Tozzi) O’Flaherty. On June 25, 1978 she married her husband Gerald Michael Griffin, Jr. The couple shared 36 years of marriage together until he predeceased her in the line of the duty (LODD) in 2014. For 24 years Patie worked at Rham High school as a paraprofessional, and in her spare time would work for the Westchester town auctions and volunteering her time with the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department. She served for a total of 35 years with the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department starting as a fire fighter and medical technician. Over the years Patie climbed through the ranks within the department serving as a Lieutenant, and finally as Captain of the fire police from 2012 until her retirement in 2017. After her retirement Patie moved down to Vero Beach Florida where she continued to serve her community by joining the American Legion Post 39 Auxiliary. Patie was a woman of strong faith and was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Family in Hebron, and St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Vero Beach. She will be forever loved and remembered by her son Kris Kolaczenko of Vero Beach, Florida; her sisters Lucille Kuranski of San Gate, Vermont, and Diana Camilleri of East Hartford; and numerous other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she is predeceased by her brother Daniel O’Flaherty, Jr. of Pasco WA. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 18 from 5-7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. A memorial mass will be held the following day, June 19, at 10 AM directly at the Church of the Holy Family 185 Church St, Amston, CT. Burial will follow in the New Hebron Cemetery.
