Paula Joan (Pagach) Toomey

Paula Joan Toomey, of Hebron, passed away at Backus Hospital in Norwich on July19, 2022.  She was 87 years old.  Born on June 6, 1935 in Hebron, CT, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Hilda (Haines) Pagach.  Joan was the spouse of Robert J. Toomey, who predeceased her in 2014 after 61 years of marriage.  She was retired after a long and successful career as a Registered Nurse, working for Windham Orthopedics Group and later, private duty nursing. Joan was an active volunteer with the Historical Society and she was involved with many organizations throughout her lifetime. Joan loved to entertain family and friends at her home especially during the holidays.  Her loss will be mourned by all who knew her, especially her son, Robert M. Toomey of MA; siblings, Alberta Pomprowicz, Ann Caron, Ruth Patros, Michael Pagach, and Coralee McSurran; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Bessie Moroch and Bertha Marston.  A memorial mass will be held on August 27th at 10 am at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 30 Church St., Hebron.  Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Hebron.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Paula’s memory may be made to www.stjude.org or www.ASPCA.org  The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with care of arrangements.  For online condolences, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com
