Peter A. Zikorus

Peter A. Zikorus passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019, in the comfort of his own home after battling a long term illness.

A steward of his land, Peter caringly tended to the menagerie of flowers, fruits, and vegetables that adorned his cherished 17 acres. His love of nature was matched equally by his great love of animals, including the many rescues he opened his home to, the hundreds of chickens and varied poultry he raised, and his seven grandchildren who he taught the value of these endeavors through example. All this was outmatched only by his great love for his wife, his partner in the dirt and in all facets of life, Patricia Zikorus.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia, stepson and daughter-in-law Greg and Lisa, stepdaughter Sara, stepdaughter and son-in-law Theresa and David, and treasured grandchildren Kaelyn, Alexis, John, Mikayla, Rebecca, Jack, and Devin. He was preceded in death by his parents Doris and Edward Zikorus of Prospect.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, the 18th of December, from 10:00-11:00am at the Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at the West Street Cemetery in Columbia.
