Philip A. Montano

Philip A. Montano, lovingly known as “Butch,” passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, at the age of 80 in Bloomfield, Connecticut.

Born on September 1, 1944, in Hartford, CT, Butch was a lifelong Bloomfield resident. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marilyn, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.

Butch was a dedicated family man and leaves behind his daughter, Paula Belliveau and her husband Donny of Colchester, CT; his son, Michael Montano and his wife Jessica of Manchester, CT; his cherished grandchildren, Taylor Brinker and her husband Rich of Bristol, CT, and Sam Belliveau and his partner Rachel Akers of Colchester, CT; and his adored great-grandson, Greyson Brinker of Bristol, CT.

Together with his family, Butch co-owned and operated Montano Brothers Construction Company, building not just homes, but a reputation for quality and integrity. Later, he found fulfillment in years of service at the Saint Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, where his strong work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

In retirement, Butch embraced his lifelong passion for model speedboat racing. A proud member of the NAMBA District 11 R/C Boat Club, he spent countless joyful hours on the water, competing in races, mentoring newcomers, and forming lasting friendships. Over the years, he earned numerous trophies and accolades, including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023, recognizing his dedication to the hobby and the community.

Per his wishes, services will be private and held at the discretion of the family.

Butch will be remembered for his steady presence and his devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the memories of those who knew him and in the waters where his boats once raced.
