Renée Louise (Ruet) Weaver Obituary
Renée L. Weaver, 77, of Lebanon, CT, passed away peacefully at her home on Amston Lake on the evening of Saturday, February 18, 2023. Born September 22, 1945 in Staten Island, New York, she was the only child of the late Louis and Frances (Hynes) Ruet. As a child, Renée grew up on Amston Lake. In 1963, she married her husband, the late John “Jack“ Weaver. The couple settled in Preston, CT, where they raised their family together. Inspired by her love of crafts, she and her husband opened a small craft store called J&R Country Crafts, which they operated successfully for many years. She later worked at JCPenney, and in the years leading up to her retirement, drove students for the Learn Company and then M&J Bus Company. Renee was a keen lover of animals, especially horses and her dogs and cats. She held a deep appreciation for nature, and in her spare time, she loved to be outside, tending to her garden and birdwatching. She loved to play games of all kinds, from cards to family games to visiting the casino. She was a dedicated wife and mother, as well as a lifelong lover of knowledge. She had a sharp mind and an outstanding memory, and always had an interest and desire to learn about a variety of new topics. She is survived by her children, John Weaver and Cheryl Kurtz, her granddaughter, Ila Overton, and her great-granddaughter, Serenity Robles, as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Renée was a communicant of the Saint Andrews Church in Colchester. In honor of her wishes, a memorial service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11 AM at Saint Andrews Church, 128 Norwich Ave., Colchester, CT.
