Richard Geikie Obituary

Richard Thomas Geikie, 74, of Lebanon, passed away on April 15, 2020 at Backus Hospital. Born April 5, 1946 in Beverly, Massachusetts; he was a son of the late G. Johnstone Geikie and Christina (Douthwright) Geikie. Richard worked for years as a hydraulic engineer working closely with the Department of Transportation for the State of Connecticut and truly valued his time spent working for GM2 Associates, Inc of Glastonbury, CT. Richard enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was on the golf course, biking, or skiing down a mountain. He was a man of family who was firmly rooted in his love and respect of God. Richard was an active member of the First Church of Christ in Wethersfield, where he served as a Deacon, then chair of the Board of Deacons. He also served as chair of the Christian Development Ministry and served on the Board of Trustees, as well as singing in the church choir. He was driven to do what was right, regardless of the wear or burden on himself and consistently referred to his lovely wife, Sarah, as his “Beloved”. Richard will be forever loved and missed by his wife, Sarah; children, Christopher (Marissa) Geikie, Douglas Geikie, Laura (Tyler) Anniello, Sarah Jane Geikie, and Susan Ritchotte. He is also survived by his brother, David (Ann) Geikie of Hamilton, Massachusetts as well as numerous extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, G. Johnstone Jr. and Donald Bliss Geikie. Care of private arrangements have been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Richard’s name to Compassion International, https://www.compassion.com.
