Richard Goulart Obituary

Richard H. Goulart, 97, of Lebanon and formerly of Colchester, passed away Tuesday (June 23, 2026) surrounded by his loving family. Born July 22, 1928, in Bristol, RI he was a son of the late Ricardo and Aurora (Amaral) Goulart. Richard proudly served in the United States Navy, where he discovered a lifelong passion for travel and seamanship. A captain and leader, Richard was the pillar of his family. His time in the service helped shape his adventurous spirit, and love of geography. He continued traveling to many countries sharing this love with his wife, family, and friends throughout the years.

Following his military service, Richard dedicated his life to Pratt & Whitney, in the magic shop until his retirement. He was known as someone who could fix just about anything, from repairing small household trinkets to rebuilding engines. His skills and love of flying lead him to find a joy later in life creating his signature airplanes and giving them as gifts to friends and family. His warm personality, quick wit, and sense of humor helped him to make lifelong friends everywhere he went. His true passion was his family. He cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and especially his six great-grandchildren. Watching them grow brought him immense joy and pride.

He leaves his daughter, Kathleen Saltonstall (and Robert Larsen) of Lebanon; his daughter-in-law, Debbie Goulart of Brooklyn; four grandchildren, Tanya Strong (and husband John), Jeremy Goulart (and wife Jessica), Ashley Littlefield (and husband Brock) and Steven Saltonstall; and six great grandchildren, Haley, Bailey, Jackson, Wade, Ava, and Charlie; and numerous extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years Rose Goulart on Feb 13, 2015; their son, Richard, Jr. on Feb. 19, 2006, as well as his three siblings. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday July 25th at 10am at the Gilead Congregational Church, 672 Gilead St. (Rte. 85), Hebron.  There are no calling hours and burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lebanon Senior Center, 37-R West Town St., Lebanon 06249.
