Richard Weston Sullivan, fondly known as Rick or R1, passed away on September 11, 2023, at Hartford Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 66 years old. Born in Hartford on May 27, 1957, he was a son of Audrey Jeannette (King) Sullivan of East Haddam and the late Raymond James Sullivan. Rick grew up in Colchester and graduated from Bacon Academy. After High School, he lived in Florida for a time and eventually returned to Connecticut. Rick was a Jack of all trades, working in a wide array of jobs, including carpentry, Manager for John & Bob’s Auto Body, Manager for Monroe Muffler, and several others over the years. He was a talented musician with a guitar and bass guitar. Most notably, he loved to ride his Harley. He was a true motorcycle enthusiast and while riding he made many lasting friendships and many fond memories. Rick will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by his mother, Audrey; his brother, Barry Sullivan and his wife, Stephanie Sacco with whom he made his home in East Haddam; his sister, Bonnie Sullivan and her partner Scott Riley of Cape Cod, MA; and many cousins, extended family members, and friends. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother, James Raymond Sullivan and a nephew, Cayne Cote. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 30th from 10 – 12 at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 12 noon. Following the funeral service, a celebration of life will be held at the Tavern on the Hill, 12 Rae Palmer Road, Moodus.
