Robert (Bob) G. Damon, 70, of Lebanon, CT, passed away on September 22, 2025 after his arduous journey with cancer. He had family and his cherished dog, Emma, by his side when he was called home.
Born on March 4, 1955, in Springfield, MA, Bob was the third child of Charles and Leola Damon. Growing up with five siblings, Bob always kept busy.He spent his youth camping, fishing, tending the family property and gardens, and working at the local tobacco farms. He served as his father’s right-hand man, learning carpentry and general contracting skills that later enabled him to establish his own business. Throughout his career, Bob became well-liked and respected by the local small businesses that he worked with.
Bob’s faith was evident from a young age as he became a leader in his church’s youth group, guiding and encouraging others. Later, as an active and devoted member of Salem Congregational Church, he was able to combine his faith with his skills, using these talents to support church projects and help wherever he was needed. Bob’s nature was to serve others, and he was always there for his family, friends, community, and church.
Bob had a lifelong passion for cars, from attending races and visiting auto shows to watching NASCAR on the weekends. He lit up when talking about any kind of vehicle, and his excitement made it clear how deeply he loved them. Bob also enjoyed sports—whether playing outdoor games, cheering on his family at their school sporting events, or rooting for his favorite football team. Whatever the activity, his enthusiasm was unmistakable and contagious.
Bob leaves behind his loving wife, his family, his church family, his community, and his faithful dog, all of whom were a constant comfort to him and now deeply feel this loss. His kindhearted soul will always be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service celebrating Bob’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Salem Congregational Church, 244 Hartford Rd., Salem, CT 06420.
