Robert C. Derda, 65, of Ledyard, CT passed away at his home unexpectedly on January 9, 2024. Born September 22, 1958 to Rose (Dalfonso) Derda and Chester Robert Derda. Rob graduated Bacon Academy in Colchester in 1976. He pursued his passion of automotive expertise with a degree from Denver Automotive and Diesel College in 1978. Upon college completion, Rob’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to his first business venture of Ledyard Auto which he purchased in 1987 and has continued to operate since. Rob will forever be remembered as a hardworking man, well liked and known. Rob was a friend to everyone he met and always served his community and with favors he always did for others. His legacy extended beyond his Ledyard Auto involvement. He was an avid pilot and diver, he soared the skies and explored the depths of our world, showcasing his love for adventure. His passion for cars, airplanes and motorcycles echoed in every aspect of his life.
When not working on cars, flying or helping someone else, Rob was spending his time as the house committee chairman for the Tuckerbung Social Club, located in Gales Ferry. Rob is survived by his only son, Matthew Robert, stepdaughter Lauren Gale, sisters Kathleen Standish and Nancy LaFlamme, nephews Ryan Davis (Madeline) and Connor LaFlamme, nieces Rachelle LaFlamme and Kaitlyn Standish.
