Robert Scott Evans, 68 years old, of Lake Placid Florida and formerly of Colchester, passed away at home on Friday, September 29, 2023. He was fondly known as Bob or Scott. He was born on July 18, 1955, the son of the late Robert and Geraldine (Ivers) Evans. Robert graduated from San Diego State College receiving his Journeyman’s license for steam fitting. He moved to Connecticut in 1983 when he was married to his former wife, Susan J. Evans of 28 years. He worked at Electric Boat, General Dynamics for 13 years as a pipefitter. Robert later became a skilled builder of custom motor cycles. His choppers were highly sought after and he loved riding his Harley Davidson. In his free time, Robert loved the outdoors, being near the water, boating, surfing, and watching the sunsets. Some of his fondest memories were made with his “brothers” whom he rode with through the years. Most importantly he will be remembered for his devotion to family and friends. He was known to say, “Music is candy to one’s ears.” Bob leaves behind his former wife, Susan Evans of Colchester, his daughters and their spouses, Mary (Curt) Loken of Minnesota, Shannon Skubel of Bozrah, Sarah (Ray) Reed of Plainfield; sisters, Candas Evans, Dianne Gober; grandchildren, Jillian Craveiro, Lilly and Adam Skubel; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Roberta Evans and a brother Matt Dixon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org. Calling hours will be held at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester on Saturday, November 18th from 10 – 12PM followed by a celebration of life at the Tavern on the Hill in Moodus.
