Robert Alan Georgens

Robert Alan Georgens, 76, of Sanibel, FL and Colchester, CT; passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Born March 27, 1948, in New York; he was a son of the late Frederick and Florence (Burns) Georgens. Robert was a 1966 graduate of Hicksville Highschool. Shortly after graduating he enlisted in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged he met his future wife, Donna Desillier, they married in 1973. For years Robert worked at Electric Boat in Groton as a pipe fitter. In his spare time, he enjoyed vacationing with Donna in their Florida home, and spending time at the beach. When the opportunity presented itself, he would go on hunting and fishing trips or just spend the day tending to his garden. His greatest joy in life came from his family, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and fully embraced his role as a grandfather. He is survived by his wife Donna Georgens; children Kelby (Tina) Georgens Bryce (Krista) Georgens and Leah (Kevin) Fennell; sister Roberta Grimsley; 11 grandchildren; and numerous other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Rodney Georgens.
