Robert F. Jacobik, fondly known as Bob, of Old Saybrook and formerly of Lebanon, passed away peacefully at Middlesex Hospital on June 8, 2025.  He was 94 years old.  Bob was born in Norwich on October 2, 1930.  He was the son of the late Joseph and Stella (Urewicz) Jacobik.  Bob grew up in Lisbon and attended the Norwich Free Academy.  Soon after, he enlisted in the US Airforce, serving during the Korean War.  Bob was a proud veteran and lifelong patriot. He married Liberta Schaab, the love of his life on April 16, 1955.  The couple made their home in Lebanon where they built the Jacobik Farm.  A place in the country where they raised cows, horses, chickens and hayed the land.  The family farm was a place where their daughters would grow up learning about life on a farm, with an appreciation for “the simple life”.  Bob loved riding his horse Molly the Morgan through the fields of the farm.  She was the most beautiful horse you could set your eyes on. Bob worked for the State of CT as a mechanic for twenty years and then went on to work for UPS for an additional twenty years. After Bob retired from UPS, he drove a bus for the Columbia school system for ten years.  The children loved him and called him “Bob the Bus Driver.”.  He will be remembered fondly by his family and friends as a hard-working family man who devoted his life to his wife, children and country.  In addition to his wife, Liberta of 71 years, he leaves two daughters, Jessica Szucs and Heidi Jacobik; two granddaughters, Autumn Szucs and Taylor Merritt; and many extended family members and friends.
