Robert D. Niver, 61, of Colchester, passed away Thursday, July 15, his family by his side. Born August 17, 1959 in Paris, France, to the late George and Erica (Mast) Niver. He settled down and started his family in Connecticut with his wife, MaryAnne (Kochuk) Niver, whom he married in 1988.
In life, Robert proudly served his country in the US Navy. He worked for many years at Paradigm Precision. He had a love for music and sports. For baseball, his team was the Boston Red Sox, for football, the Seatle Seahawks, and soccer, of course, the Manchester United. Throughout the years he and MaryAnne vacationed to tropical islands, and everywhere he went, he bought a tie-dye shirt. You could always spot Robert in a crowd, just look for that brightly colored shirt. He loved to take his grandkids to water parks, he enjoyed growing sunflowers and watching formula one and street-bike racing. Robert also found great joy in decorating the house and yard for both Halloween and Christmas for all of the neighbors to enjoy.
Besides his loving wife of 33 years, Robert leaves behind his sons, Alex Niver of Middletown and Benjamin Niver of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother Eric and his wife Kim Niver of Missouri; two sisters, Susan and her husband John Dennett of Alabama and Lynda and her husband Dan Dietlin of Indiana; his four beautiful grandkids, Alex, Jr., Paige, Lillian and Jake Niver; his father and mother-in-law, Samuel and Florence Kochuk; a brother-in-law Sam and his wife Janel Kochuk; a sister-in-law Angela and her husband Brook Tegge; many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends and his adorable fur-babies, Ollie and Monday.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home. A celebration of life for Robert will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the VFW Post 5095, 20 N Maple St, East Hampton, CT from 2-5pm. The family invites anyone who attends, to dress casually and to wear a tie-dye shirt if they would like, in his memory.
