Roland Forget: Passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2024.  Born October 27, 1936 in Attleboro, MA, predeceased in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth M. Forget.  He was the son of the late Emilian and Camilla Forget. 

Roland and Ruth were married on October 27, 1956 in Attleboro, MA.  The couple started their family together in Attleboro, MA before relocating to Oakdale, CT in 1966.  Upon graduation from High School, he served in the US Navy from 1954 – 1958.  Roland then worked for the US Postal Service and Texas Instruments until relocating to CT.  There he worked for the Naval Underwater Systems Center until his retirement in 1990.  Upon retirement, Roland enjoyed golf and woodworking.  In 2003, Roland and Ruth retired to The Villages in Florida where they enjoyed their new friends and golfing as a couple.  They returned to Colchester, CT in 2009 to live out their later years close to family and friends.  Roland was the proud father of five children.  He is survived by, Judith (Kevin) MacDonald of Norwich, CT, Daniel (Amy) Forget of Spanish Fort, AL, Timothy (Corinna) Forget of Fairhope, AL.  Roland was also the proud grandfather of 14; great-grandfather of 20; brother to Yvette Forget Mercier; and friend to all who knew him.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his daughters, Diane Bourdeau and Cathleen Forget; brothers, Gene and Roger Forget and sister, Rita Letourneau. 

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 16th from 5 – 7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 17th at 10 AM in the Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary’s Cemetery, 600 Jefferson Ave, New London, CT 06320.  Roland’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Middlesex Health Hospice Program for their compassionate care given to their loved one.  To share a memory of Roland or a condolence message to his family, please visit www.auroramccarthyfuneralhome.com.
