Ronald W. Denny, Sr., age 93 of Moodus, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2023. Born January 20, 1930, in Utica, NY, he was the son of the late Frederick Denny and Frances Planty. Ron was employed at Hicks and Otis Prints in Norwalk, CT for 48 years, retiring in 1993. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955 during the Korean Conflict, assigned to the 27th Crash Reserve Boat Flight. He received praise for his service as Airman in charge of the supply section of the 6th Troop Carrier Squadron earning him a Commendation Ribbon. By providing exceptional meritorious service above and beyond the call of duty, Ron brought much credit upon himself and his organization. He was awarded a Korean Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Command Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1955 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ronald is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Patricia L. Denny. He is the adored father of Ronald Denny, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Trumbull, Diane Denny of Clinton and William Fernschild of Milford, and the devoted grandfather of Ronald III and Matthew Denny, Cailen and Emily Fernschild. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory. He was predeceased by his brothers Frederick and Douglas Denny. Ron’s humor, modesty and overall gentle, caring demeanor will be sorely missed by all whose lives he has touched throughout the years with his unwavering kindness. A memorial mass will take place on December 1, 2023 at 10:30 AM directly at the Saint Pius X Catholic Church, 310 Westfield St, Middletown, CT 06457.
