Ronald Orrin Jones, of Moodus, formerly of Colchester, passed away at his home on July 27, 2023.  He was 89 years old.  Ronald was born in Manchester on May 6, 1934.  He was a son of the late John and Annette (Grigolet) Jones.  He was a graduate of Bacon Academy with the class of 1952 and went on to Hartford Technical College.  Ronald was a proud veteran - having served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958.  He married Mary Elise Skowronek in 1961 and the couple settled in Colchester where they made their home and raised their family. They were communicants of St. Andrew Church in Colchester. After 43 years of marriage, Mary predeceased him on October 22, 2004. Ronald enjoyed membership with several groups including the Elks in Westbrook; his love of hunting and fishing was lived out as a member of the Colchester Fish and Game Club; he enjoyed visiting with friends as a member of the St. Joseph’s Polish Society in Colchester; and was a very proud member of the Irish American Home and Society in Glastonbury.  From 1984 to 1994, Ronald was an owner of Reusch-USA Limited, a national wholesale sporting goods company in Colchester.  He retired after a long career as a Surveyor for the State of CT Department of Transportation.  Ronald will be remembered fondly by his loved ones as a strong and honest man with a kind and generous soul. His loss will be felt by many, especially his children, Peter Carli of Colchester, Thomas Carli of Depew, NY; Jacqueline Jones of East Hampton, Ronald Jones, Jr. of Moodus, four grandchildren, Lindsay White of Vernon, Julia White of Glastonbury, Lena and Annelise Jones of Cromwell; and many extended family members and friends.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a son, Robert Carli and a brother, John “Jack” Jones.  Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 6th from 1 – 3 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, August 7th, directly at St. Andrew Church, 128 Norwich Ave., Colchester.  Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery with full military honors.
