Ronald LaForge Obituary

Ronald Joseph LaForge of East Haddam/Moodus, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020 after a short illness. Ron was born on November 16, 1946 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Herve and Eva (Flynn) LaForge. Ron graduated from East Hampton High School class of 1964. Shortly after graduation, he and his best friend, Tom Healey, enlisted in the US Navy, he served aboard the U.S.S. Leary as a boiler technician. This led to his lifelong carrer as a HVAC technician. After leaving the service he briefly worked for Atena Insurance Company maintaining their engineering department. Around 1970, Ron went to work for Valley Oil of Portland, CT, where he spent the nxt 20 years. At this point in his life, Ron started his own HVAC company, Palamino Mechanical Services based out of Lebanon, CT. Ron and his ex-wife, Arlene, remodled a home on Lake Williams from a summer cottage to a beautiful year-round home which was photographed for the town calendar. Ron loved to be outside, sailing, playing golf and riding his beloved palominos. He is survived by his sons, Mark of Norwich, Matthew of Columbia; sister Debra (Dean) Markham of East Hampton; and his lifelong friend Tom (Susan) Healey of East Haddam. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Harvey, and sisters Gall and Carole. Due to the COVID-19 quarantine the celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date.
