Ronald Steinhilber Obituary

Ronald Gustav Steinhilber, age 81, of Lebanon, passed away at home on Monday, December 21, 2020, with his loving family by his side. Born in Norwood, MA on February 22, 1939, he was the only son of the late Gustav & Anne (Drab) Steinhilber. Ronald entered the military in 1961, proudly serving our country in the United States Air Force. He married the great love of his life, Delores (Dudley), on July 19, 1964; the couple made their home and raised their family in East Hartford and later moved to the family cottage on Lake Williams in Lebanon. After honorably discharging from the military, Ronald used his experience from the Air Force and went back to work as a machinist for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft; he worked over 38 years, retiring in 1992. Ronald was a member of the American Legion and a member of the International Association of Machinists (IAM). He was a loyal parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Lebanon where he loved to sing during mass. Ronald also used his love of music and singing to bring joy to others by performing with the Golden Globes at the local senior centers. He caught the genealogy bug after he retired and was able to trace his and Delores’ roots all the way back to the mid-1500s. He loved living on the lake, sitting under his favorite pine tree and birdwatching. In addition to his beloved wife, Delores, of over 56 years, Ronald is survived by his children and their spouses, Carl & Amy Steinhilber of Pawleys Island, SC, Sally & Stanley Forostoski of Chaplin, and Amy & Kevin Guay-Macfarlane of East Hartford; his grandchildren, Katie Forostoski & her boyfriend Brian of Groton, Sarah Roberto & her husband Josh of Fort Meyers, FL, Lindsay Forostoski & her fiancé Jordan Battcher of Chaplin, Allison Guay & her fiancé TJ Getchell of Lebanon, Megan Steinhilber of Ithaca, NY, Amanda Steinhilber of Somerville, MA, Matthew Steinhilber of Pawleys Island, SC, and Jesse Forostoski of Chaplin; special family friend & honorary granddaughter, Renee Noel of Willimantic; as well as numerous extended family members & friends. Walk through calling hours utilizing face coverings & social distancing will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2020, from 9:30am – 11:00am at Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester. A mass of Christian burial will then be celebrated at 11:30am at St. Andrew Church, 128 Norwich Ave., Colchester; burial will immediately follow in the New St. Andrew Cemetery.
