Ruth (Webster) Gobelle

Ruth Gobelle, of East Haddam, passed away at home on August 5, 2022.  She was 84 years old.  Born in Laconia, NH on June 18, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Hazel (Ames) Webster.  Growing up in Tamworth, New Hampshire, she was a 1956 graduate of Kenneth High School and right after, Ruth married Norman Gobelle, her grade school and high school sweetheart.  Soon after, the couple moved to East Haddam where they made their home and raised their family. Ruth and Norman led an adventurous life. They were Florida Snowbirds for a time and traveled extensively, motor homing cross country, and motorcycle riding.  Although she was retired from working as the Assistant Town Clerk for East Haddam, Ruth’s true labor of love was taking care of her home and family, which she did lovingly giving attention to every detail. Ruth will be sadly missed by many but remembered with love by her husband Norman of 66 years; her children, Steven and his wife, Lynn Gobelle, Melissa Fox, Casandra and her husband, Donald Berthiaume; a brother, Wayne Webster; grandchildren, Susan Gobelle, Kristy Nelson, Lisa Sikorski, Laurel Lovely, Amanda Lovely- Gordon, Breeanna Miner; great grandchildren, Hannah Simpson, Toby Simpson, Grayson Nelson; Hailee Gordon, Gage Gordon, Izabella Reed; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Linda Hansen. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 10th from 4 – 6 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester.
