Sandra Bailey Parmenter (Perreault) 84, of Moodus, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Sandra was Born June 12, 1939, in Lewiston, Maine; she was the daughter of the late Joseph E. Perreault and Martha (Bailey) Perreault. Sandra was a graduate of Deering High School in Portland, Maine; In 1963 she married her husband, Frederick N. Parmenter, Sr. They shared close to 60 years of marriage, raising a family and sharing a life together. She was trained as a certified nursing assistant and worked for 8 years at CT Valley Hospital. After her children were born, she began a 40-year career as a school bus driver for Nichols bus company driving in the town of East Haddam. She became a bus driver so she could spend more time with her family and be off with her children in the summers. Sandra was a cub scout den mother for many years and loved attending her children’s sporting events. She was a former member of the First Church of Christ Congregational Church in East Haddam, and an active member of the Westchester Congregational Church. She would volunteer her time helping in any way she could. Sandra’s most Joyous times were spent with her granddaughters, which often involved baking, knitting, crocheting, sewing and making crafts for church functions. She was a talented quilter and sewist, over the years she and her granddaughter sewed hundreds of dresses and other items for charitable causes. She is survived by her husband, Frederick N. Parmenter Sr. of Moodus; children David Parmenter and wife Denise Parmenter of Columbia CT and Frederick Parmenter Jr. of Millbury, MA; sister-in-law Elaine Baitler of Naples ME; grandchildren Darien Parmenter of CT and Allison Parmenter of MA; and numerous other extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother David E. Perreault and granddaughter Daena Bailey Parmenter.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00am September 30, 2023, at the Westchester Congregational Church 98 Cemetery Rd, Colchester, CT 06415. Followed by a reception in the Church Hall. A private burial for Family will be in the First Church Cemetery 499 Town St, East Haddam, CT 06423.
