Sandra Staebner Obituary

Sandra White Staebner, fondly known as Sandy, of Franklin, passed away at her home on Easter Day, April 5, 2026, with her loving family attentively by her side. She was 92 years old. Sandy was born in Manchester, CT on December 20, 1933. She was the daughter of the late Montague and Rachel (Boutwell) White. She was predeceased by her sister and brother in-law Barbara (Robert) Hille. Sandy grew up in Andover, CT and was a graduate of Windham High School. She later went on to college at UCONN, graduating with a degree in Home Economics. After college, she spent a year in Saratoga County, NY as a 4-H Agent, and was passionate about 4-H throughout her lifetime. In 1956, she married the love of her life, Ernest Emerson Staebner and settled in Franklin CT, where they raised four children. The couple was a great team that built a home, Blue Slope Farm, Blue Slope Sawdust (trucking) and Blue Slope Country Museum. They shared 63 years together before Ernie predeceased her on August 26, 2019. Sandys life was full, active and a blessing to many people. She was a co-leader of the Franklin 4-H Variety Club, and she was a founding member of the Blue Slope Country Museum where she also served on the Board of Directors. Sandy was active in many historical organizations throughout Connecticut and New England, where her knowledge and talents were invaluable and greatly appreciated. Sandy was also a very active member of the former Franklin Congregational Church. Most importantly, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her loss will be felt by many, but her contributions will carry on through all the countless lives she touched. She will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by her children and their spouses, Craig (Anne) Staebner of Franklin, Jeffrey Staebner of Franklin, Glen (Melissa) Staebner of Bozrah, Nancy-Sue (Stephen) Probey of Monrovia, MD; seven grandchildren Matthew (Erica) Staebner, Rebecca (Andy) Joy, Hale (Samantha) Staebner, Alicia (Robert) Moore, Melinda (Josh) Shade, Alexandra (James) Costigan, Samantha (Bryce) Swarm; great-grandchildren, Drake, Myra Rose, Brant, Cora Anne, Lara Wren, Raya June, Tyler, Townes, Jacob, Peter, June, Sarah, Isla, Ava; and numerous extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held privately according to her wishes. Donations in Sandys memory may be made to benefit the Ernest E. Staebner and Sandra W.
