Scott P. McEnaney, of Lakeview Drive in Colchester, passed away at his home on January 16, 2024. He was 61.
Born in Hartford to the late Donald and Patricia (Welch) McEnaney, he was a 1980 graduate of Xavier High School in Middletown. Scott served in the U.S. Postal Service in Hartford for 36 years.
Scott will always be remembered as a true and faithful friend and had an an incredible loving soul. Whether alone or with his family and friends, he enjoyed making wonderful memories in all his favorite places. Incredible memories were made in one of his most cherished places, Block Island. He was a hard worker, always willing to fix what needed to be fixed and spruce up whatever needed improvement. Scott found happiness in the simple joys of life—playing pool with friends, walking around Hartford, hiking, playing frisbee at Hammonassett Beach, or just a relaxing fishing trip in the White Mountains with his childhood best friend, Martin. If he was surrounded with the people he loved most, he was content.
A lover of nature and animals, Scott appreciated his home being so close to beautiful places like Salmon River and the Colchester/Salem Land Trusts, and all the coastline beaches. He was constantly outside enjoying his natural surroundings. Scott brought a special light into the lives of everyone who knew him. His laughter and sense of humor, his smile and willingness to want to see others smile—these are memories of him that will be deeply missed. He will forever be loved by his friends and family.
Scott is survived by his brother, Kerry McEnaney of North Carolina; his sister, Colleen Collin and Steve Bryant of Florida; his aunt and uncle, Judy Friend and Don O’Laughlin; his beloved nephews, Sean B. McEnaney and James DeBarge; his grandniece, Tessa DeBarge; his lifelong best friend, Martin Jenkins and his wife, Christine, and their children, Allanah, Nichole, and Luke; and many cousins and cherished friends.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1PM to 5PM on 1/21/24 at the St. Joseph’s Polish Society, 395 South Main Street, Colchester, CT 06415. A private ceremony commemorating his love of Block Island will be held at a future date. Memorial donations in Scott’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
