Scott Michael Smith

Scott Michael Smith, 44, of Colchester, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Born April 6, 1976; he was the beloved son of Gary and Katherine (Martin) Smith. Scott grew up in Colchester and was a graduate of Bacon Academy. Over the years he worked in various fields, from food service to being a trader at local swap meets. Scott had a love for animals and nature, often spending time outdoors fishing, kayaking, and hiking and he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed cooking and he would spend countless hours in the library, as he loved to read. He loved music and playing his guitar. He was very gifted artistically. Scott will be dearly missed by his parents and his sister Jaime and her husband Shawn Callaghan; his niece and nephew Grace and Finn Callaghan; his beloved cat, Abby; and numerous other extended family and friends. Care of arrangements have been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Colchester Food Bank, 127 Norwich Ave. Colchester, CT, or an animal shelter of choice.
