Sherry Ann Rhodes, 65, of Deep River, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2021 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, Connecticut. Born January 2, 1956 in Shelby North Carolina; she was the daughter of the late Howard and Ruth (Ward) Sisk. Sherry was a 1974 graduate of Shelby High School. She married her husband Ronald Edwin Rhodes on November 8, 1998, the couple shared 13 years of marriage together until he predeceased her in 2011. Sherry will always be remembered as a loving woman who was a mother to all. When her son Thomas was growing up she would volunteer her time at the school as an assistant in the classroom teaching them how to read. She was always a fixture at the swim team meets. In the early 90’s, she ran a restaurant called Bojangles. For over 10 years she worked as a dispatcher for OnStar, until she moved to Connecticut in 2012 and then became a dispatcher for Companions and Homemakers where she continued to care for others in need. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting, particularly crocheting. She is survived by her son Thomas and wife Sherri Sisk of Colchester, CT grandchildren Joseph Staley-Sisk, Emily Farrington, and Mikayla Farrington, all of Colchester; sisters-in-law Sheila Sisk of Shelby, NC, and Sylvia Rhodes of Charlottesville, NC; and numerous other extended family and friends. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her nine siblings. Care of private arrangements have been entrusted to the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home.
