Stanley Fratus Obituary
Stanley R. Fratus, of Colchester, passed away on January 17, 2026. He was born on July 20, 1944, in Oroville, California, to Stanley Fratus and Alice Fratus.
Stanley was raised on a working ranch in California, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong appreciation for simple pleasures. In 1966, he began a distinguished career in the United States Navy, serving honorably for 21 years. Following his military retirement, Stanley continued his service to the country as a DCMA Inspector for the U.S. Government, a position he held from 1986 until 2003.
On April 22, 1998, Stanley married the love of his life, Patricia, in Virginia City, Nevada, in an old Weststyle saloonan event that perfectly reflected his character and sense of adventure. Together, they built a life filled with companionship and shared joy. Stanley especially treasured time spent with Patricia, whether traveling to visit family in California, taking afternoon walks on the Lebanon Green, or stopping at local farm stands to enjoy a simple day together.
Stanley was an avid collector of military memorabilia and a devoted fan of classic western films, with John Wayne among his favorites. When relaxing at home, he could often be found snuggled up with his beloved feline companion, enjoying a quiet afternoon.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Fratus; his sons, Stanley Fratus Jr. and Stephen Fratus; his daughters, Sunny White and Sheri Fratus; his six grandchildren; and his sister, Ilene Schmitz.
A visitation and funeral service will take place on January 28th beginning at 9:30, the service will begin at 10:30 at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester. Burial will follow at the Middletown State Veterans Cemetery.
