Stanley John Wood, Jr. "Woody"

Stanley John Wood, Jr., better known as “Woody” or “Johnny” passed away at his home in Colchester on Monday, March 21, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Born June 28, 1971 in Hartford Connecticut; he was a son of Stanley J. Wood, Sr. and the late Joan (Joslyn) Wood. Johnny had an incredible work ethic, and proudly worked for the Hartford Local 15 Ironworkers Union. In his spare time he loved to be outdoors whether it was fishing, boating, and hiking around Lake Pocotopaug in East Hampton,  playing a round of golf, or enjoying a cold beer after a long day of work.  He loved to spend as much time as possible with family and friends. Johnny was the friend/father/brother/son that was there for everyone no questions asked. His smile lit up a room and could bring joy to anyone with his sense of humor. To honor his memory, the John Wood Memorial Golf League will be established in the near future.  He is survived by his truelove, MaryAnne Rhodes; children, Meghan Wood, John Wood, and stepson, Braeden Rhodes; father, Stanley J. Wood, Sr. and stepmother, Doris Wood; siblings, Kevin and his wife, Aletha Wood, Karin and her husband, Tom Cooke, Cheryl and her husband, Bill McGuire; and numerous other extended family and friends. He has touched so many lives and his memory will live on through his loved ones. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 from 3-7 PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester, CT 06415. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, Johnny’s family request that memorial donations be made to his children’s college fund.
