Steven L. Pratt

Steven L. Pratt, aged 73, of Colchester, passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2023.  Born in Middletown on December 29, 1949, he was the first-born son of the late Lawrence E. and Hilda Ann (Dempster) Pratt.  Steven was a proud U.S. Army veteran.  He served both in Germany and Vietnam.  After leaving the military, Steven earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the Hartford Community College.  He worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for many years before becoming a dealer at Foxwoods Casino, retiring after 15 years. He was a life member of the VFW Post 594 Norwich and was a 30-year member of the Moose Lodge 950 in Bozrah. He was an avid golfer and sports fan, particularly the Dallas Cowboys.  Steven was known for his ever-present smile and very much enjoyed the many friendships he made over the years, most recently in Dublin Village in Colchester.   Most importantly, he loved his family, and was especially proud of his niece and nephews. He will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by his brother, Ronald, and his two sons, Ian and Jesse, and his sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Roy, and their son, Derek, and daughter, Shanna. A celebration of Steven’s life will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester, followed by a burial with full military honors at the State Veteran’s Cemetery in Middletown at 1PM, all are welcome to attend.  Donations in his memory may be made to the Disabled American Veteran’s www.dav.org.
