Susan Makowicz Leser

Susan Makowicz Leser, of Marlborough, passed away at her home on August 13, 2023. Susan was born on April 22, 1960 in Manchester CT, the daughter of John and the late Isabelle (Podosek) Makowicz. Susan attended college at UConn, obtaining a Bachelors of Science in Finance, as well as Rensselear Polytechnical Insitute and Eastern Connecticut State University, obtaining a Masters of Business Administration and Master of Education. She was a dedicated teacher at Tolland Intermediate School, where she lived out her passion for educating children. Susan also supported her local community by serving on the Board of Finance for the Town of Marlborough for over 10 years. Susan will be dearly remembered for her compassion and love of animals. She was an avid reader and had impeccable style. Susan was a loving mother who cherished her children, and was someone who you could always count on to find the strength and courage to stand up for what she believed in. Susan will be profoundly missed by her beloved family: father John Makowicz; sons Sean Leser and his fiancée Amanda Hopkins, Tyler Leser and wife Andrea Vargas; daughter Chelsea Makowicz and fiance Nathan Desharnais; brothers Paul and wife Leighsa Makowicz, David and wife Heather Makowicz; sister Linda and husband Jonathan Adams; as well as many other extended family members, friends and former students. Susan was pre-deceased by her mother Isablle Makowicz and brother Michael Makowicz. Calling hours will be held at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester on Friday August 18 from 5 to 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated the following day at St. Joseph's Church, 33 West St, Rockville at 12 noon.
