Suzanne Marie Reinholtz, age 77 of Colchester, passed away on July 9, 2025 at home surrounded by her children, family, and true loves, her pets. Suzanne was born on January 17, 1948 to the late Vincent Savalle and Eva Fortier. Suzanne’s story is one of love and support for her children and family, friendship, generosity, and unwavering love for animals. Following in her father’s footsteps, there wasn’t a horse Suzanne trained that didn’t go on to become a champion. Second place was not an option. Suzanne’s first pony “Muley” can attest to that. Deemed “unsaleable” by her father, Suzanne’s first project began. Suzanne not only broke Muley to ride, but also taught her to bow and lay down amongst many other tricks. Muley stayed with Suzanne and lived to watch her marry her high school sweetheart, have two children, and build the Reinholtz Farm where Suzanne’s love for horses was shared with her family and friends. If you showed any interest in horses, there was no limitation on her devotion to get you there. No quitting! This dedication and determination brought Suzanne, her family, and friends many years of success showing Quarter Horses. Suzanne’s personal alltime greatest horse show highlight was done on her beloved mare “Angel”. Suzanne not only won the 3 year old futurity, but won unanimously under 3 judges, competing against her daughter and numerous professional trainers. Staying true to her love for horses and in her late 50's, Suzanne and her partner in crime and “tick”, Teresa Sciremammano purchased two 2 year old mares. Dedicated as always, each night after work you would find Suzanne down in the ring with her finger in the air and “tick” at her side doing what she loved most, working with the horses. Said so perfectly by life long and best friend, Josephine Guarnaccia, “To have Suzanne’s friendship is a gift.” Suzanne’s generosity knew no bounds. You couldn’t go shopping with her and come home without a bag of clothes or food. She unconditionally gave 110%, 100% of the time. Suzanne had a beautiful soul, inside and out and always did the right thing. Looking serious on the outside, Suzanne was silly inside. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Suzanne looked forward to visits from friends Joseph and Karen Currier. Where evenings were spent sitting at the kitchen table mostly discussing horse show business. Who won, who won by politics, or which stallion she would send her mare off to next. If you boarded your horse with Suzanne, you were not just a boarder, you became her friend, as good friend Sandy Kelly knows to be true. Suzanne didn't go far from home, however her reach was far. If you live in Colchester, Suzanne likely drove your school bus or delivered you mail. Some of Suzanne's favorite sayings were ““on to the next” and “keep it moving”. Her post office family heard this once or twice. Suzanne will be sorely missed by her son, Theodore Sage Reinholtz, her daughter, Sareen Reinholtz, brothers Vincent Savalle and Quinn Fortier, her grandchildren, Shane 20, Abbey 14, twins Sabrina and Katrina 11, Patches and Honey (horses), Kelly, Rick, and Morty (dogs), and her cat Princess. Calling hours will be on August 7, 2025 from 4-6PM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, CT. In lieu of flowers please donate to https://donorservices.alz.org.
