Sylvio Vaillancourt Obituary

Sylvio R. Vaillancourt, 75 of Lebanon, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 8th, 2022. He was a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and exceptional outdoorsman. Sylvio was born on May 21, 1947, in Eagle Lake, Maine, to the late Amible and Blanche Smart. He was the fourth of eight siblings. Interestingly enough, the last names of Vaillancourt and Smart are synonymous with each other. Sylvio was unable to finish high school because his father was involved in a logging accident, and his attention was turned to picking up where his father had to stop, in order to help provide for his mother and younger siblings. He moved to New Britain CT in 1965 in pursuit of work, and met and married his beloved late wife, Sandra Lee. The two of them were married in April of 1967 and began their family. Sylvio and his siblings Paul and Bob built businesses between themselves in home construction. Sylvio worked as an owner and operator of his own branch of the three-ring construction circuit, mainly pouring concrete for the foundations of the homes him and his brothers would build together. They ran this business for many, many years until Sylvio and his wife Sandra eventually retired at their dream home, they built in 1985 in Lebanon. They spent 52 years together before she passed in 2020. Sylvio will be remembered as being a man’s man. taking pride in the care of his property, in particular, his land he loved to hunt and fish on. More than anything though, he was an avid outdoorsman. Hunting, fishing, and survivalist methods were like the holy trinity for Sylvio. He will be sorely missed by his son, Steven Vaillancourt; daughter, Sherry Vaillancourt and her husband Ted DeLoreto Jr.; granddaughter, Stefani Vaillancourt; step-grandson, Eric Dahlgren, and his step-great granddaughter, Caliope Hebert.  Sylvio will be further missed by his siblings, Leo Vaillancourt, Amible Smart Jr., and Bob Vaillancourt. He was predeceased by his siblings; Romeo Vaillancourt, Mable Lakeman, Paul Smart, and Barbara Vaillancourt. Although services will be privately held for Sylvio his family respectfully and gratefully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society in Sylvio’s name may be made and or planting a tree in his honor.
