Temma Joy Silberman Obituary

Temma Joy Silberman, passed after a very brief illness 2½ weeks short of her 92nd birthday on July 27, 2023. Mentally sharp as a tack, her final days were filled with her loved ones. Born August 21,1931 in High Point, NC to Dora (Gordon) and Edward Leyton. Temma attended The University of Alabama where she met future husband, Seymour Sheckter returning to High Point to marry. Temma was predeceased by her parents, Dora (Gordon) and Edward Leyton, sisters Penny (Daniel) and Leah Miriam (Marshal), husbands Seymour Sheckter and Rabbi Herbert Silberman. Temma has left three children; Ron (Stacy), Steve (Manette) and Debbie (Jerry) as well as 12 grandchildren; Ben, Dan (Meghan), Stephanie (Eric), Danielle (Justin), David (Dana), Aaron (Julia), Jacob, Danit, Rebecca (David), Jen, Amanda, Joe (Maia) plus great grandchildren, Zackary and Rayna. Temma moved from High Point to Newington, CT in 1966 and to Phoenix, AZ in 1977.  Temma loved to travel the world seeing it from very diverse perspectives. She returned to CT in 2012 to begin her final chapter with family nearby (not to mention the Mohegan Sun slots).  Internment details will be provided by Cumby Funeral Home, High Point, NC www.cumbyfuneral.com.
