Tiny Haynes passed away peacefully at her home in Salem, on June 23, 2024. Born on September 6, 1945, in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Tom and viola (Kelly) Laffey. Tiny was a beloved figure known for her loving, caring, and generous nature. She was a devoted wife to her husband David Haynes, spending 60 years together, enjoying each other ‘s company, (settling in their home in Salem) while raising their three boys.
Tiny was celebrated for her exceptional culinary skills, a hobby that brought great joy to her, and those she loved. Her cooking was more than just food, it was a vessel of her love and care. Tiny never knew a stranger and truly embraced her role as “mom”, She graciously opened her home to many over the years, providing a safe place to stay, or a gourmet meal made from scratch, whether it was friends of her children, a grieving family or a group of navy men away from their families during a holiday. Tiny was sure to provide an unmatched experience of love and compassion to everyone she encountered.
Tiny will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by those who knew her, as a cherished wife, mother and grandmother. Tiny is survived by her husband David Haynes; sons, David and wife Soledad, Christopher and partner Michaela, John and partner Killeen; grandchildren David and wife Christina, Gina and Seth Haynes, as well as her great grandchild Aubrey.
Tiny’s family will be accepting guests on Sunday June 30, from 2pm -4pm, at The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral home located at 167 Old Hartford Road Colchester CT. A memorial service in honor of Tiny will take place at 4 PM.
