Valerie Trewhella Obituary
Valerie Trewhella, of Moodus, passed away on March 11, 2026. She was 59 years old. She was born in Queens, NY on February 11, 1967, to Thomas and Maureen Brennan.
She grew up in East Islip, NY. She worked in the computer field and later relocated to Colchester with her late husband Karl to raise their family. Once she had her children, she stayed at home with them until they started school. From there, she began working in the school system to continue to stay close to them. Throughout her life she worked in many different capacities as a caregiver not just as an occupation, but as a heartfelt need to give back.
In her spare time, Valerie loved taking trips to the beach where she enjoyed basking in the sun, the blue waters of the Caribbean, and the smell of suntan lotion. Her compassionate nature followed her wherever she went in life, even when it came down to taking care of animals in need. Valarie had an appreciation for the simple aspects of life such as the smell of freshly cut flowers and Christmas trees, candles, and seeing snowmen around in the winter. More than anything, her true passion was spending quality time with her friends and family and taking care of her children.
She will be sadly missed but always remembered with love by her children, Thomas Dunbar, Scott Dunbar; Katelyn Dunbar and Chad Dottor; her father Thomas; her companion Bill Sawchuk; and numerous extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her mother Maureen, and her brother Thomas.
