Vera Glemboski, 98, of Colchester and Black Point Beach, widow of the late Leo Glemboski, passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Harrington Court. Born March 14, 1924, in Colchester, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Anna (Mitzkawitz) Gyome. A 1942 graduate of Bacon Academy, Vera always enjoyed getting together with her classmates. Over the years Vera worked for several different companies including Pratt & Whitney during World War II, a bookkeeper for Leo’s Esso, and over 20 years as a clerk for the Colchester Probate Court. Vera found the greatest joy in being a wife, mother, and grandma and sharing her home, holidays, and adventures with her siblings, cousins and large group of lifelong friends. She is survived by her children Paul (Susan) Glemboski of Colchester, Joyce (Joseph) Bilello of NJ, Diane Glemboski of Mystic, and Teri Borodezt of Canterbury; grandchildren Kate, Chris, Noah, Kelsey and Leslie; great grandchildren Dan, Jr., Paul, Dante, Michael, Takota, Benjamin and Emma; and numerous extended family and friends. In addition to her parents and loving husband, she is predeceased by her son-in-law, Allan Weiner; siblings, Peter, Alexander, Catherine, Anna, Michael and Paul Gyome, Irene Plecan, Jennie Levine, Helen Huron and Mae Ruszala.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, from 10 to 11:30 AM at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester. A funeral mass will follow at noon at the St. Andrew Church, 128 Norwich Ave, Colchester. Burial will take place after the mass at Linwood Cemetery. Donations in memory of Vera may be made to The Colchester Lions Club, St. Andrews Church, or to a charity of your choice. Vera’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all the support Vera received over the last several years from extended family and friends, and to all the special angels at Harrington Court for their compassionate care during this difficult time
