Walter Jan Nastalczyk “Waclaw” 93 of Hebron, and formerly of Colchester, passed away on the early morning of Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Colebrook Village in Hebron, CT. Born January 1, 1931, in Piotrków Trybunalski, Poland; he was the son of the late Marion Waclaw Nastalczyk and Stanislawa Janina Clapa. During his youth he served in the Polish Military, and met his first wife, Yadwiga in Germany while performing in an orchestra in a regional opera. In 1956 he emigrated to America and settled in Colchester where he raised his family. When he first arrived in America Walter worked at the Paper Mill in Westchester, and then went on to work for many years as a truck driver for Teamsters Local 671. In 1985 he married his second wife, Patricia Luccas Fedus. He was a communicant of St. Andrew’s Church in Colchester for years and a proud member of the St. Joseph Polish Society “The Polish Club” in Colchester. Walter will also be remembered for his green thumb; he would spend hours tending to his garden. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Nastalczyk; children Stanley Nastalczyk, Marion Nastalczyk, Bozena Gardner and Elizabeth Unghire; grandchildren Nathan and David Gardner, Sarina Gardener and Christopher Unghire, Jr; family friends JoAnn Novajovsky and George Wagner; and numerous other extended family and friends both here in America and back in Poland. Calling hours will be held at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd, Colchester, CT 06415 on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 10 AM to 10:45 AM, followed by an 11 AM Funeral Mass at St. Andrew Church 128 Norwich Avenue, Colchester, CT. Burial will follow in the New St. Andrew Cemetery on Gillettes Lane in Colchester. It is with our most sincere thanks & gratitude that all the Colebrook Village staff, especially the Nurses & Aides, are recognized for their deeply compassionate care in seeing Walter transition to his final resting place with the utmost love & dignity.
