Warren Stearns Firmin

Warren Stearns Firmin, of Newington and formerly of Marlborough, passed away with his family by his side on April 29, 2023 at 87 years old.  Warren was born on August 14, 1935 in New London, CT and was the last surviving of four sons of the late Clayton and Lois (Wilcox) Firmin.  Warren grew up in Groton and graduated from New London High School.  He then went on to study computer engineering at Connecticut State Technical Institute. Upon graduation, Warren made a career with IBM.  It was a labor of love as he truly enjoyed working with computers and figuring out how to fix them. He married his beloved wife, Dolores Leilani Bradley on August 15, 1954.  The couple settled in Marlborough where they made their home, raised their family and shared 64 lovely years together before Dolores predeceased him on April 3, 2018. Warren was a proud veteran having served with the Air National Guard and was deployed to Germany during the Berlin Crisis.  Growing up on the shore, he developed a love of the ocean.  In his free time, Warren enjoyed fishing and boating, especially with his brothers, children, and grandchildren, watching UConn basketball and Connecticut Sun basketball, and spending days on the lake. He had a true gift of story telling and will be fondly remembered for the wonderful stories he shared with everyone. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.  His loss will be mourned by many, especially his children and their spouses, Kevin (Cynthia) Firmin of Frederick, MD, Felise (Greg) Peck of Kennesaw, GA, Sandra (Edward) Godbolt of Newington, CT; five grandchildren, Michelle, Tyler, Jordan, Austin and Marielle; and numerous extended family members and friends. A funeral service will be held on June 16th at 10am at Aurora McCarthy Funeral Home in Colchester, Connecticut followed by a burial at Marlborough Cemetery.  Donations in his memory may be made to the American Kidney Foundation www.kidneyfund.org.
