Yolande Rubb Obituary
Yolande Rubb, 78, of Hebron and formerly of Columbia, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by her beloved family.
Born in La Patrie, Quebec, Canada, on October 12, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Raoul and Madeleine (Audet) Corbeil. At age twelve, Yolande’s family immigrated to the United States, settling in New Hampshire. Arriving with only French, she quickly mastered English and earned New Hampshire’s highest academic award for a French-speaking student.
On September 24, 1966, Yolande married the love of her life, Donald Rubb. They first made their home in Windsor Locks before moving to Vernon, where they raised their family, and later to Columbia in the late 1990s. Yolande and Donald shared 57 years of marriage until his passing on October 5, 2023.
A lifelong learner, Yolande returned to school later in life, earning her Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Connecticut in 1995. She worked in various roles over the years, most recently as secretary at the Beckish Senior Center in Columbia. Her greatest joy, however, came from being a devoted wife, a loving mother of three, a proud grandmother of six, and a gifted artist. She was accomplished in wood carving, photography, and painting across many mediums, earning recognition and awards for her work.
A devout Catholic, Yolande was a faithful communicant of St. Columba Church. She loved nature, took pride in her home, and filled her yard with plants and beautiful flower gardens. She also had a special fondness for angels.
Yolande will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Stephen (Susan) Rubb of Glastonbury and Monique (Thomas) Ryan of Hebron; her siblings, Jean-Luc Corbeil of Florida, Lise Welch of New Hampshire, and Denise Brown of Rhode Island; her grandchildren, Marissa Rubb, Jason Rubb, Jenna Bogaczyk, Benjamin Ryan, William Ryan, and Lucas Ryan; along with many extended family members and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Genevieve Bogaczyk.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23, at 10:30 a.m., directly at St. Columba Church, 328 CT-66, Columbia, CT. Burial will be private in Columbia Center Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Yolande’s memory may be made to the Children’s Law Center at www.clcct.org. The Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester has been entrusted with arrangements.
