Eugene S. Grecki passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2017 with his wife, Joan by his side.  Gene was born in New Britain, CT on June 15, 1944 to Helen Fronzak Grecki and Joseph T. Grecki Sr. and resided there until 1976 when he married Joan and moved to East Hartford, CT.  He graduated from Central CT State University. He was employed by and retired from the State of Connecticut as a business analyst.  In 1987 he and Joan moved to the countryside of Lebanon, CT.

Together they enjoyed travelling to Nova Scotia, Hawaii, Spain, the Caribbean islands and especially to Drakes Island, ME and Bermuda.  Gene enjoyed history, classic cars, reading the comics and had a great mind for remembering trivia.  He was proud to have accomplished a life's goal of participating in the design and construction of an energy star rated home in Lebanon with the help and expertise of Kenneth Boucher of Eastern Building Co. LLC.  Gene was an avid reader.  Special thanks goes to the staffs at the Jonathan Trumbull Library and Saxton B. Little Library who provided an endless supply of books and videos.

The family extends much appreciation to Dr. Kevin Felice (Hospital for Special Care) who helped Gene overcome numerous challenges throughout his life associated with Charcot Marie Tooth Disease- Type 1 Muscular Dystrophy.  The family would also like to acknowledge Middlesex Hospital physicians Dr. James Ouellette, Michael Farrell, Timothy Siegrist, Lucian Gorgan and Ryan O'Connor and the nurses and staff of Hartford Healthcare Home and Hospice for their professional and quality care.

In addition to his parents Gene was predeceased by a brother.  He leaves nieces Sandra and Susan and nephew Michael and his canine and feline companions.

Gene was a devout Catholic. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, March 13th at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Lebanon followed by a private burial in New Lebanon Cemetery under the direction of the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home of Colchester.
