Renald Martin Champagne
September 18, 1950 ~ November 23, 2016 (age 66) 66 Years OldRenald Martin Champagne, 66, of Columbia and formerly of East Hartford, beloved husband of Helene (Bergeron) Champagne, passed away Wednesday (Nov. 23, 2016).
Born Sept. 18, 1950 in St. Prosper, PQ, Canada, he was the son of the late Fernand and Carmelle (Poulin) Champagne.
Having a strong work ethic, he had worked as a self-employed carpentry contractor across Connecticut and also operated a sharpening shop out of his home.
In addition to his loving wife of 45 years, he leaves two sons, Matthew (and his fiancée, Brande Terranova) of Hebron and Martin of Columbia; his grandson, Brandon; two brothers, Raymond and wife, Louiselle of East Hartford and Lawrence and wife, Pauline of Canton; three sisters, Gaetane LaRochelle of Vernon, Michelle Champagne of Sherbrooke, PQ and France Champagne and companion, Pierre Gauvin of Sherbrooke, PQ; a sister-in-law, Micheline of Manchester; and numerous extended family and friends.
He was predeceased a brother, Rejean; a sister, Danielle Paquette; and a brother-in-law, Gilles LaRochelle, as well as his parents.
The family will receive guests from 2-4 PM Sunday (Nov. 27th) at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Road, Colchester.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 10:30 Monday (Nov. 28th) directly at St. Columba Church in Columbia (located at the jct. of Rtes. 66 & 87). Burial will be private.
The family requests that floral tributes be omitted, but rather that those who wish consider making a memorial contribution to either the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
